I rethink the machinery behind modern computing, from operating systems to distributed clouds.
Hi, I am Yibo Yan, a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC), where I work with Prof. Seo Jin Park in the Networked Systems Lab (NSL). I received my master’s degree from Yale University and my bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis.
My current research interests include:
- Designing new computing paradigms and systems for serverless computing to improve the utilization and resource efficiency of cloud infrastructure.
- Building debugging tools for distributed systems and exploring agentic approaches to distributed-systems debugging.
- Enabling strong scaling and optimizing latency for modern data analytics engines so they can better utilize cloud infrastructure.
More broadly, I am interested in distributed systems, cloud computing, and operating systems.
